Year 4 Study Abroad Semester
Computing and Technology Department
Faculty of Science and Technology
Aim of the course:
This course will be available from semester 2 2012/3 and will provide a one-semester programme of study alongside MSc students in the Computing and Technology Department at ARU. It will take place during the second semester of year 4 of the ESIEA programme and is at the Chelmsford campus.
The programme is specifically intended to improve your TOEIC score: an improvement of 210 points has been achieved by previous ESIEA students on the current programme. You may, however, come on the course without needing this and study only computing subjects.
Modules:
You will study three subjects in total, from the following list:
English for Study (compulsory);
Secure Systems (compulsory);
Advanced Computer Networks 2;
A Virtual Test Environment for Business Processes
Facilities:
The Computing and Technology Department is in a new building at the Rivermead Campus, which is ten minutes’ walk from the centre of Chelmsford. All the University’s facilities are on campus, including student accommodation, two refectories, the Student Union, Library, and Sports and Fitness Centre.
The Department has two general computer laboratories, a specialist Multimedia laboratory, a Media studio and a purpose-built networking laboratory.
Chelmsford is about thirty five minutes from the centre of London by train, and forty minutes from London Stansted airport. By road, it is about an hour and forty minutes from the Channel Tunnel.
