L’Université de Bilkent, située à Ankara, est la première université de fondation (université privée), à avoir été créée en Turquie, en 1984, sous l’impulsion d’İhsan Doğramacı, pédiatre et philanthrope turc (décédé en 2010). Bilkent est un acronyme de « bilim keti » en turc, ville du savoir et de la science. Bilkent fait partie des établissements les plus prestigieux de Turquie et héberge notamment un des meilleurs teknokentsdu pays, grâce à ses partenaires avec le secteur privé.
En chiffres : 13 000 étudiants, 8 facultés (arts, design et architecture, gestion, sciences sociales, économiques, éducation, ingénierie, lettres, droit, sciences exactes) ainsi qu’un conservatoire de musique. La bibliothèque de l’université est l’une des plus importantes en Turquie en termes de superficie et de nombre d’ouvrages.
Dans le classement d’excellence URAP (University Ranking by Academic Performance) en 2013 de Campus France, Bilkent University figure au 11erang parmi les 30 premières universités turques listées. Au total, la Turquie compte environ 200 universités.

The Departments of Computer Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering offer both graduate and undergraduate programs leading to B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees. In addition, the Faculty contributes to interdisciplinary graduate programs that offer M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in the areas of Materials Science and Nanotechnology and Neuroscience.
The mission of the Faculty of Engineering is not only to impart contemporary engineering and scientific knowledge in the four engineering disciplines but also to inculcate creativity, research techniques, and self-development. The graduates of engineering programs are expected to acquire dynamic learning skills and to readily adapt to technological changes as well as to solve fast growing problems of the modern society.
